“We are the last generation that can prevent irreparable damage to our planet.”

General Assembly President María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés (2019)

2O30

The collection of four lino printed postcards addresses the global grand challenge of Climate Change inspired by Theo Dorgan’s poem ‘The Question’. Each postcard addresses three extreme and detrimental events: floods, drought, and bushfires. The circle and its deconstructed parts are a recurring motif to portray the urgency of the crisis as time is ticking away. The last postcard is the year 2030, the last year to prevent irreversible damage to our planet. The hollow circle is a lens for the viewer to look through and recognise the reality of climate change.

The typography on the front of the postcards are hand-made relief prints and the backgrounds are mono prints made with paper, ink and water. The prints were edited and coloured on Photoshop to enhance the icons, type and colour symbolism. The poem is portrayed through a serif font to show how Dorgan has romanticised earth. Meanwhile, the sans-serif font exposes the truth.
